  • Professional Digital Video Production, Instructor           2012 - Present
    University of Maine, Orono, ME
    Head instructor for Professional Digital Video Production, an undergraduate course offered to New Media undergraduate students. Personally created and implemented the course within the New Media program and has been run each spring semester. Course educates students on a variety of approaches of the entire digital video production workflow. Students are first introduced to basic shooting and editing techniques utilizing Canon DSLR video cameras, lenses, and accessories building to and concluding with hands-on instruction of Hollywood-level Blackmagic and RED cinema cameras and lenses. 

     

  • Design Basics for New Media, Instructor         Fall 2011 – 2012
    University of Maine, Orono, ME
    Head instructor for Design Basics for New Media, a mandatory course all New Media majors must take designed to introduce students to theoretical and technical design techniques for a variety of different concepts. Cover various design fundamentals while designing specific assignments to properly introduce students to software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, and After Effects.

  • Documentary Storytelling - Photography, Instructor                               2015 - Present
    University of Maine, Orono, ME
    Head instructor for Documentary Storytelling - Photography, an undergraduate course offered to New Media undergraduate students. In addition to learning how to properly use a camera, emphasis is placed on the art of storytelling through photography. Assignments are designed to encourage students to research topics, cultivate a genuine connection with subjects, and explore best practices for capturing, documenting and sharing stories through digital photography.

    Head instructor for Documentary Storytelling - VIdeo, an undergraduate course offered to New Media undergraduate students. In addition to learning how to properly use a camera, emphasis is placed on the art of storytelling through video.   • Adobe Premiere I & II, Instructor         Fall 2013 - 2019
    Maine Media Workshops, Camden, ME
    Lead one weeklong basic workshop as well as a separate advanced workshop the following week on Adobe Premiere. Class covered all aspects of digital video editing utilizing Adobe Premiere. Topics included proper techniques for project set-up, importing and organizing various types of footage, various editing techniques, sound design, color-correction and export settings for production, web viewing, and beyond.


  • Adobe After Effects, Instructor         Fall 2013 - 2019
    Maine Media Workshops, Camden, ME
    Lead one weeklong basic workshop as well as a separate advanced workshop the following week on Adobe After Effects. Class covered various introductions to digital animation technique and theory. Participants were introduced to industry standard animation and effect-based workflows, including but non limited to kinetic typography, vector based animation, 3D animation, roto-scoping and tracking, and green screen.


  • Young Filmmakers, Instructor                         Summer 2015
    Maine Media Workshops, Camden, ME
    Lead a two-weeklong workshop designed to introduce high school students to digital filmmaking. Course covered all aspects of the digital filmmaking process on both theoretical and technical levels. Students were introduced to proper storytelling structure and were educated on how to better analyze films and were assisted in the completion of their own short stories. Hands on instruction and demonstrations educated students on basic DSLR video use, settings, lens choice, cinematography, exposure, lighting and editing.


  • Davinci Resolve, Instructor                 Spring 2017 - 2019
    Maine Media Workshops, Camden, ME
    Lead an introductory course on Blackmagic’s complete post-production software solution, Davinci Resolve. Students and participants were introduced to file organization, audio and video editing techniques with a large emphasis on utilizing Davinci Resolve’s elaborate color correction and grading tools. At conclusion, students gained an understanding of waveforms, how to work with ungraded log footage, and color match separate cameras.

  • Four–Week Film School, Instructor     Spring 2018
    Maine Media Workshops, Camden, ME
    Lead a 4- week in-depth introduction to the entire filmmaking process. Students were introduced to all technical and theoretical concepts to best prepare them for efficient pre production, production and post production workflows. Writing, directing, storytelling, film analysis, camera technology, audio, cinematography, interviewing, editing and color correction were all covered in detail.


  • Online Storytelling School for Social Good, Producer, Instructor                   Fall 2019
    Storm Warriors Media Foundation, non-profit, Camden, ME
    Personally produced the entire Online Storytelling School for Social Good for the Storm Warriors Media Foundation, a non-profit documentary video production house located in Camden, Maine. Designed a custom curriculum on how to utilize storytelling to raise awareness about social good related causes through documentary filmmaking. In addition to writing, shooting, lighting and editing each of the 41 episodes, acted as the primary on-camera talent and instructor for the course.

  • Collaborative Media Lab (CML), Manager           2006 – 2014
    University of Maine, Orono, ME
    Responsible for all operations of the CML, the central digital media computer lab on the University of Maine campus, which primary roles include managing multiple undergraduate and graduate student employees and schedules, offering a variety of media production assistance and technical support such as digital photo scanning and editing, digital video production, and digital graphic design and layout strategies to all students, faculty and staff. Other requirements include ensuring all DSLR camera rental equipment and large format printers are all up to date, calibrated properly and are in working order.

  • IMRC Digital Media Equipment Room, Lead Consultant 2012 – 2013
    University of Maine, Orono, ME
    Responsible for utilizing a $100,000 budget to properly research and order upgraded digital photo/video cameras and accessories. Organized all current and newly ordered equipment in the newly built Innovative Media Research and Commercialization Center (IMRC) equipment room. Created a complete inventory of all equipment and implemented an efficient online rental and reservation system for users and other employees.

  • Black Bear Insider, Television Program                 Spring 2017 – Spring 2018
    University of Maine, Orono, ME Writer, Director, Producer
    Head producer of Black Bear Insider, a bi-weekly television show centered on the University of Maine athletic department, staff, and athletes. Each academic year was in charge of producing 16 separate 28-minute episodes to be televised on WAVI Portland and WVII Bangor. Shot, edited, and produced all episodes which shared University of Maine athletic personal stories, resources, and experiences to be utilized as marketing and sponsorships.

  • How to Get Rid of a Body & still be Friends, Feature Length Film   Summer 2016

    Canandaigua, NY  - Digital Imaging Technician, Drone Pilot
    Acted as the lead digital imaging specialist on How to get rid of a body and still be friends,  a feature length film shot through a period of 34 days in Canandaigua, NY. As digital imaging specialist, primary role was to capture all media content throughout each day of shooting and compile rough edits and color correction for the director and cinematographer. Also worked remotely with the lead editor who was based in Los Angeles. Organized all digital video and audio files on to four separate hard drives for proper back up and streamlined workflow.
    - Lead drone pilot for all aerial cinematography. Worked with the director and cinematographer to capture needed aerial cinematography at various locations.
    - How to get rid of a body and still be friends received a nationwide distribution with Lionsgate.

  • Building off the Grid , National Television Program         Summer 2017
    Half Way Rock Lighthouse, Portland, ME
    Building off the Grid is a nationally released television program shown on the DIY network. The program focuses on unique and extreme builds of houses and various residences in extreme locations. I worked on an episode that focuses on the renovation of Half Way Rock Lighthouse located 10 miles off the shore of Portland, Maine. Primary roles included digital imaging technician, capturing all cards from the various cinematographers and organizing footage. Also acted as the primary drone pilot, capturing all needed aerial cinematography of the lighthouse and construction.

  • Storm Warriors Media Foundation, non-profit organization         Summer 2019 - 2020
    Camden, ME - Producer, Cinematographer, Training Specialist
    The Storm Warriors Media Foundation is a non-profit organization that creates documentary films which raise awareness about social good related causes. As en employee, I assisted in various roles, from creating concepts and story ideas, scheduling shoots, conducting interviews, capturing footage as a supporting cinematographer, and training other employees on various technical workflows and software. 


Certifications

  • Adobe Certified Expert in Premiere Pro, Certified Trainer               Spring 2015
    Passed an in-depth and monitored online exam to become an official member of the Adobe Certified Expert program, specifically in Premiere Pro. All Adobe Certified Experts are listed on the official Adobe website to be utilized by users for support in designated programs. Adobe Certified Experts can be listed geographically by state to better support users depending on location. Currently the only Adobe Certified Expert in the state of Maine.

  • Blackmagic – Davinci Resolve, Certified Trainer                                           Spring 2016
    Attended in-depth training course on Blackmagic Design flagship digital editing software, Davinci Resolve, at Abel Cine in New York City. The course was focused on gaining a fundamental understanding of the traditional uses of Davinci Resolve, such as media management, editing, motion graphics, advanced color correction, audio balancing, and distribution as well as how to effectively teach those methods to other people.  Concluded the course by passing the 75 multiple choice question exam with a 98% to be an officially certified Davinci Resolve Trainer.

  • RED Digital Cinema, Certified Knowledge of Workflow                                Spring 2016
    Attended REDucation, an in-depth three day workshop conducted by Red Digital Cinema, which covered the entire physical and technical workflow of their industry standard 4k, 6k, and 8k cinema camera systems. 

  • Telling Hannah, Writer, Director, Editor, Producer         Fall 2012
    A 27-minute short film, Telling Hannah was accepted into the Lewiston/Auburn Film Festival and was nominated for Best Maine Film.
